New: Gifts for Disney and Theme Park Fans (2026 Holiday Guide)
This calendar estimates how busy each week will be at the three most-visited US theme park resorts. We built it ourselves from public information you can check: federal holidays, typical school-break windows and the parks' seasonal patterns. We explain every step below, and each week lists the reasons for its rating. We do not have live wait-time data, and we did not copy anyone else's predictions.

Scale: 1 to 10. Lower (1-3), Moderate (4-5), Busy (6-7), Very busy (8-10). Estimates from public calendar factors only; this is not live or historical wait-time data.

How we calculate crowd levels
- Seasonal baseline (1-10). Each month starts with a baseline based on widely reported seasonal patterns: summer and holiday periods are busy; September and the weeks after New Year are quiet. Disneyland's baseline runs higher in summer and on holidays because a large share of its visitors are Southern California locals.
- Holiday and school-break bumps. We add points when a week overlaps a federal holiday (from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management list) or a typical school break: +4 for Christmas to New Year, +3 for Thanksgiving week, +2 for Presidents' Day week and the March-April spring break season, +1 extra around Easter, and +1 for three-day holiday weekends.
- Special events. We note recurring events, such as Universal's Halloween Horror Nights evenings in September and October, in the reasons column. Events mostly affect evenings, so we mention them rather than inflate the whole week.
- Cap and label. Scores are capped at 10 and grouped into Lower, Moderate, Busy and Very busy.
Weekends are usually busier than weekdays, especially at Disneyland. Within a busy week, Tuesday to Thursday is often the best bet.
How to double-check a date
- Ticket prices: Disney and Universal both use date-based pricing. A higher price on the official ticket calendar usually means the operator expects more people.
- Park hours: longer published hours often signal a busier day.
- Your local school calendar: if your district is off, many others may be too.
- Official event calendars: runs, festivals and after-hours parties change hours and crowds.

Limitations
This is a forecast from calendar factors, not a guarantee. It can't account for weather, ride closures, new attraction openings, one-off conventions or changes to school calendars after we published. School break dates vary by district, so we use typical windows rather than any single district's dates.
ParkHop is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Disney, Universal or any park operator. Crowd levels are our estimates, not official figures. Always check official park hours and ticket prices before you go.
Frequently asked questions
Is this crowd calendar based on wait times?
No. It is built from public calendar factors (holidays, school breaks, seasons and events). We don't have live or historical wait-time data, and we say so on purpose.
What is the least crowded week at Disney World?
In our model, weeks in September and the weeks right after New Year score lowest, because school is in session and there are no major holidays.
Why does Disneyland score higher on holidays?
Disneyland draws a large local audience, so holiday weekends and summer push it higher than the Florida resorts.
How often is the calendar updated?
We review it when official calendars change or new school-year dates are published. The update date is shown at the top.
